The nexus describes the links between uses and sources of water and energy
What are the global solutions and strategies? The World Bank is addressing this global challenge in Thirsty Energy – Energy and Water’s Interdependence
The nexus defines the intricate and interconnected and interdependent relationships between water, food and energy.
According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), “the water, energy and food (WEF) nexus means that the three sectors — water security, energy security and food security — are inextricably linked and that actions in one area more often than not have impacts in one or both of the others.” For more information, please refer to the FAO approach to managing the WEF Nexus at http://www.fao.org/energy/water-food- energy-nexus/en/.
